Platige Image celebrate a new Shots Award in 3D Animation

BAFTA winning visual effects and animation studio Platige Image is thrilled to share that their animated ‘Resident Evil Village’ cinematic, shortlisted for the Shots Awards EMEA 2021 won in the Ad of the Year: Animation 3D category. The studio, which is based in Warsaw and specialises in animation, VFX, and 3D Live Theatre, was nominated for three projects, in a total of two categories. Two of those projects were nominated in the Animation 3D category, and the other was a live action trailer which was nominated in VFX. The nominated animation was created for the legendary Capcom studio.

The awarded animation serves as a cinematic introduction, as well as ending, to the latest game from the Resident Evil franchise. Thanks to the trust and openness of the client, the project itself was created entirely by Platige Image, starting with the initial concept and script, right through to the character design, artwork and all animation stages, up to the final audio layer.

In line with the client’s vision, the video was created using the conventions of a dark fairy tale, as a metaphor for the events in the game. Jakub Jabłoński, the project’s director and art director, wrote a story about a girl lost in a forest and created a world full of magical creatures and fabulous locations, all created in the style of papier mâché and cutouts. The nominated animation was created for the legendary Capcom studio, the producer and publisher of well-known productions such as Street Fighter and Devil May Cry. Producer Marina Borokhova, CG supervisor Wojciech Idzi and Jakub Jabłoński, director and art director were responsible for the execution of this project. This material was originally presented on 1st of May 2021.

The second nomination was for ‘SK-II STUDIO’ – the animation, which was a part of an anthology featuring the stories of six exceptional female medallists from various sports. The film is highly stylized and surreal. The visual, directed by Damian Nenow features table tennis player Kasumi Ishikawa, medalist at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. SK-II STUDIO: ‘VS Pressure’ featuring Kasumi Ishikawa was nominated as Ad of the Year: Animation 3D category.

The last nominated project in the category Ad of the Year: VFX was ‘The Medium’, a live action trailer created in a cooperation with polish director Paweł Maślona and Tomek Bagiński. The trailer for ‘The Medium’ was released on January 28th 2021. The video was prepared as a main promotion trailer for a third-person psychological horror game that features patented dual-reality gameplay. Designed by Bloober Team studio, the film creates a unique atmosphere, serving a dark vision of the world straight from the famous paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński.
