Burning Reel have started 2018 in a big way by announcing two new directors to their roster. James Copeman and Vasilis join Burning Reel at the beginning of a big year for the production company. Hailing from the UK and originally Greece respectively, the two directors will be looking to make an impact in the commercial world over the coming year.
After graduating from university James began working directly with clients such as 4music, E4 and MTV. James quickly made a name for himself and went on to win Best New Director at the VMA's. His mixture of playful narrative walks the line of irreverence and reality, which has also seen him win a Cannes Lion and a D&AD Pencil for his series of short films for Cornetto.
Today James is one of London’s most exciting music video directors who continues to challenge the status quo of the promo world, with projects like his turquoise-infused ‘Virtue’ for Block Party, which made Promo News’ ‘Most Viewed Videos of 2016’, as well as revisiting his love of photography and making waves in television advertising: creating content for brands such Fanta, Master Card and Tesco.
Vasilis Bourantas began his career in Athens, then New York and now he's set out to conquer London. He's delivered outstanding films for a spectrum of brands ranging from IKEA, VW, P&G and Amnesty International, sweeping up a chest of awards in his wake.
Having been a CD for a number of major agencies including Saatchi's and DDB in Greece, Vasilis's understanding of the industry is unparalleled. Now residing in London, Vasilis has the rare ability to combine comedy performances, beautiful visuals, and complicated visual effects to create memorable and entertaining work.
